Rajapaksa heads to a Historic Victory

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s Party (SLPP) clinched the majority of seats in Parliament, aiming to amend the Constitution and expand presidential powers.

SLPP heads for a Resounding historic value at the 2020 General Election, gaining over 58%, by scoring 6,853,690 public votes. Party has already taken 145 parliament seats.

Sajith Premadasa was at a distant second, while Ranil Wickramasinghe suffered from a huge loss. For the first time, NPP led by JVP marked themselves as passing over UNP.
