2020 Olympics could be cancelled instead of delayed again
The postponed Tokyo Olympics 2020 could be cancelled instead of getting delayed if COVID-19 pandemic continues into next year. Games chief Yoshiro Mori said Olympics will be "scrapped" if they cannot take place in 2021.
2020 Olympics is currently scheduled to start from 23rd July to 8th August in 2021 as they were already postponed due to the pandemic situation. When asked if the event could be moved again to 2022, Yoshiro Mori replied, "No. In that case, the Olympics will be scrapped,"
However, the Tokyo 2020 games chief said he was confident the rescheduled Games would go ahead as planned.
"The Olympics were cancelled in the past for problems like war. We are fighting against an invisible enemy now."
"The Olympics would be much more valuable than any Olympics in the past if we could go ahead with them after winning this battle," he said.
