Victoria declares state of disaster
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced that The Australian state of Victoria will declare a state of disaster and stage four restrictions from 6 p.m. tonight as well as a police-enforced curfew in metro Melbourne after a surge in Coronavirus infections.

Under "shock and awe" state of disaster provisions, an 8 p.m. - 5 a.m. curfew will be imposed by police and soldiers across Melbourne, starting tonight and continuing daily for at least six weeks.
Melbourne's stay-at-home order will be enhanced under the new rules, giving residents fewer exemptions for leaving home and will be subjected to a night-time curfew.
These extreme measures ware taken after the state reporting 671 new Coronavirus cases and seven deaths bringing the total number of infections to 11,557.
